Wipro, a big IT services company, is making headlines today, January 31, because it has signed a multi-million-dollar contract with Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE. This contract lasts for five years and is aimed at upgrading Etihad’s technology.
Although we don’t know how much money is involved in this deal, Wipro says it will help move old systems to new ones and make things run more smoothly in important areas like the workplace, network, and service management.
Wipro’s special cloud service, called Wipro FullStride Cloud, will help Etihad Airways get real-time information about how they use resources. This will help them work better and be more flexible, especially since they operate worldwide.
Wipro’s CEO for the Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa regions, Vinay Firake, expressed excitement about working with Etihad Airways to help them adapt to changes in the aviation industry. By using Wipro’s digital skills and AI technology, they hope to provide better services for customers.
As part of the deal, Etihad Airways will also use Wipro’s Innovation Lab in the UAE to explore new technology. Wipro plans to use its advanced AI tools to manage devices smarter, improve performance, and solve problems before they happen.
Frank Meyer, the Chief Digital Officer at Etihad Airways, shared his enthusiasm, saying they want to work with Wipro to prepare for the future with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and cost-saving solutions. Together, they aim to improve customer experiences through smarter processes.
In its latest earnings report, Wipro announced a 24% increase in their profits, reaching Rs 3,354 crore, for the quarter ending December 31, 2024. Their revenue from operations grew slightly by 0.5%, amounting to Rs 22,319 crore. The company also had strong cash flow, helping to show their financial health.
