In her speech to Parliament before the Budget session, President Droupadi Murmu praised the current Modi-led government, saying they are moving three times faster than past governments. She highlighted the government’s promise to bring fast development and improvements during their third term.
This speech came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about helping women, the middle class, and young people, all while aiming for the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ (Developed India by 2047). Before she started her address, President Murmu paid respects to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away last month, and she also expressed sadness for those who lost their lives in a stampede at the Maha Kumbh on January 29.
During her talk, President Murmu shared important successes in areas like roads, hospitals, and schools, stating that the government is dedicated to improving the lives of its citizens. She mentioned the quick actions taken on policies such as Waqf boards and One Nation, One Election.
Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the government has decided to offer health insurance to six crore (60 million) citizens aged 70 and older. President Murmu emphasized the focus on educating young people and creating jobs for them. Additionally, the government plans to expand the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to provide new homes for three crore (30 million) more families.
