In Indore, a 67-year-old man received a life-saving liver transplant after a generous act of organ donation. The liver was flown in from Goa, where a man named Ajay Giri had passed away due to a brain hemorrhage. His family chose to donate his organs after doctors declared him brain dead on January 29.

On Thursday evening, Giri’s liver was transported on a regular flight and quickly taken to a private hospital in Indore. Dr. Sanjay Dixit, from the Indore Society for Organ Donation, confirmed that the patient’s health is good after the surgery.

To ensure the liver reaches the hospital quickly, a special route, called a “green corridor,” was set up with police help. This allowed the liver to arrive at the hospital in just 15 minutes.

Indore is a key city for organ donations in central India, with 62 organ donation and transplant cases since 2015. In the last ten years, only four organs from other cities were used for patients in Indore, while 58 were donated locally. Some organs from Indore have even been sent to patients in Delhi, Haryana, and Maharashtra.
