US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently had a phone call to discuss important topics. They talked about Modi’s upcoming visit to the United States, scheduled for February. The leaders wanted to create a fair trading relationship between the two countries and deepen their cooperation.
During their conversation, they also talked about issues affecting the Indo-Pacific region, the Middle East, and Europe. Trump encouraged India to buy more American-made security equipment. Both leaders are committed to strengthening the friendship and partnership between the US and India, especially through the Indo-Pacific Quad partnership. India will host a meeting with Quad leaders for the first time this year. While there are some concerns in India about Trump’s immigration policies and tariffs, both countries are actively discussing these topics.
India and the US have built a strong trade relationship, reaching a record of $190 billion in goods and services in 2023. In fact, Trump’s last foreign trip as president was to India, where he and Modi held large rallies in Houston and Ahmedabad. After the 2024 elections, Modi was one of the first world leaders to contact Trump.
