New Delhi – The Delhi High Court has refused to give bail to a man accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl who lived nearby. The judge, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, said that it is often seen that people who harm children are those they trust. In this case, the 13-year-old girl was hurt by her neighbor, whom she called “chacha,” which means uncle.

The judge pointed out how deeply this has affected the young girl. She had gone to play at his house, believing she was safe, and this betrayal is very serious. The court understood that the girl might have been too scared to tell her parents about what happened right away.

It was only after the girl talked to her teacher that a police complaint (FIR) was filed. The judge praised the teacher and the school principal for listening to the girl and acting responsibly, instead of ignoring her problem. The court said that when adults mistreat children, it harms not just their bodies but also their feelings and sense of safety, leaving lasting emotional scars.

The judge emphasized that it is crucial for courts to show that these serious crimes will not be tolerated, and that the justice system must protect the most vulnerable people in society, especially children.

The accused claimed he was wrongly accused, but the court decided that he should stay in jail.
