The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made a bunch of promises to the people of Delhi on Monday, focusing on jobs and empowering women, among other things. They released something called ‘Kejriwal ki guarantee,’ which isn’t exactly a regular manifesto. Arvind Kejriwal, along with leaders Atishi, Sanjay Singh, and Manish Sisodia, took a strong jab at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Jobs for Everyone: AAP leader Kejriwal stated that even though Delhi has a low unemployment rate of just 2%, they want to make sure everyone can find a job. He mentioned, “Delhi has 2.5 crore people, and they are like family to me. Giving them jobs is very important.”
Help for Women: AAP plans to launch the Mahila Samman Yojana. This program promises to give Delhi women Rs 2,100 every month if they return to power.
Opposition’s Promises: Just a week before, the BJP released its own manifesto with promises like free education for those in need, financial help for women, and solving water issues in the city. Meanwhile, the Congress party has introduced the ‘Yuva Udaan Yojana,’ aiming to support unemployed youth in Delhi by giving them Rs 8,500 monthly for a year. They want to help these young people get jobs in local businesses.
Upcoming Elections: The Delhi Assembly elections are getting exciting, with fierce competition between BJP, AAP, and Congress. The elections will happen on February 5, with nearly 699 candidates running for 70 assembly seats. Results will be announced on February 8.
In the last elections, Congress struggled, winning no seats after being in power for 15 years. On the other hand, AAP has been successful, winning 67 seats in 2015 and 62 seats in 2020. The BJP has done modestly, winning three seats in 2015 and eight in 2020. The upcoming elections will be a big test for all the parties!
