New Delhi: West Bengal’s Republic Day tableau showcased two important programs – the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme and Lok Prasar Prakalpa.
The Lakshmir Bhandar scheme started in 2021 and helps women by giving them a fixed amount of money every month. This plan has empowered around 2.2 crore women, making them more self-reliant and improving their lives.
The Lok Prasar Prakalpa initiative focuses on supporting folk artists, which helps keep our cultural traditions alive. The tableau presented a beautiful Durga idol dressed in Chhau style, symbolizing women’s power, or Naari Shakti. It also featured a Kalash, representing women’s empowerment.
The back part of the tableau displayed vibrant traditional folk art and showcased how the Lok Prasar Prakalpa supports local artists. The design also included elements inspired by Bishnupur’s special terracotta art, highlighting Bengal’s diverse culture and its contribution to India’s history.
Through the Lok Prasar Prakalpa, West Bengal is committed to preserving its rich culture while adapting to modern times. This initiative ensures that the state’s folk traditions are celebrated and passed on to future generations, playing a crucial role in the nation’s growth.
