Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Sunday that the government is creating a new way for farmers to sell their crops directly to customers. This plan will help cut out middlemen, letting farmers earn more money.

Chouhan spoke to about 400 farmers after the Republic Day parade at the Pusa campus. He said that helping farmers sell their products directly will ensure they get the best prices. “Agriculture is essential for India, and farmers are its heart. Without farmers, our country cannot grow,” he mentioned.

Although agriculture is mainly managed by the states, the central government will support farmers in many ways. Chouhan believes that the efforts from both the central and state governments will help farmers succeed, which is important for making India a developed country.

He also talked about several ongoing initiatives, such as buying crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP), using advanced technology, enhancing agricultural research centers (Krishi Vighyan Kendras), promoting natural farming, and encouraging farmers to grow different types of crops.

The minister reassured everyone that the government is doing its best to improve farmers’ lives and financial situations. The meeting was part of an event where 400 successful farmers and their spouses were invited to attend the Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path.
