Earlier this week, Netflix announced it will increase subscription prices in the US and other countries. This news came right after they revealed a record number of new subscribers in the last quarter of 2024, with nearly 19 million people joining.

As expected, many fans weren’t happy about the price hike and took to social media to express their frustration. Amid the complaints, AriZona Iced Tea, a popular brand from New York, jumped in to share a cheeky response on Twitter.

The AriZona account posted: “AriZona Iced Tea is still 99 cents.” This was a playful jab at Netflix since the price of AriZona’s 23-ounce can has been just 99 cents since 1992!

While Netflix’s prices are going up, the founder of AriZona, Don Vultaggio, explained last year why they keep their drink affordable: “We’re successful, we’re debt-free, we own everything. Why have people who are having a hard time paying their rent pay more for our drink? Maybe it’s my little way to give back.”

AriZona’s snappy tweet got a lot of attention, racking up nearly 23 million views and over 711,000 likes!

In a similar story, Costco’s hot dog and soda combo has stayed at $1.50 since the 1980s. The chain’s CFO confirmed the price will stay the same and that they believe in keeping it affordable for customers
