The Shiv Sena (UBT) has asked the central government to give the Bharat Ratna award to its late founder, Balasaheb Thackeray. This request was made on Thackeray’s birthday, which was celebrated on Thursday. Sanjay Raut, a leader of Shiv Sena (UBT) and an MP in the Rajya Sabha, stated that some people have received the Bharat Ratna award, even though many may not know who they are. Raut believes the award should be given only to those who truly deserve it.

He said, “If the government really wants to honor Balasaheb Thackeray, they should announce the Bharat Ratna for him on Republic Day.” Raut emphasized that Thackeray worked hard for Hindus and supported the building of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He noted that both the Home Minister and the Prime Minister have paid tribute to Thackeray on social media, and if they are sincere, they should take action quickly.

The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena is also pushing for Veer Savarkar to be awarded the Bharat Ratna. Raut criticized other political parties for pretending to support Savarkar, calling it “fake” and a “drama.” When asked about Congress’s opinion on this issue, Raut confidently replied, “We don’t fear anyone. This is our demand.”

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, has often brought up Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in his criticisms of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Balasaheb Thackeray, born on January 23, 1926, started as a cartoonist but later became a famous politician. He founded the Shiv Sena in 1966 to protect the rights of Marathi language speakers and promote Hindutva, which is the idea of Hindu nationalism. Under his leadership, the Shiv Sena grew to be a powerful party in Maharashtra. Thackeray’s personality and speeches earned him many followers, and he was known as the “Hindu Hriday Samrat,” meaning “Emperor of Hindu Hearts.” His political career was controversial but left a significant mark on the politics of Maharashtra.
