In Shimla, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu recently kicked off four new development projects in Kangra, worth a total of ₹88.68 crore. He announced that a new office for the Jal Shakti department will be set up in the Kangra district. Speaking at a public meeting in Matour, Sukhu shared exciting news, such as new courses coming to Matour College and plans to improve water and electricity services in the area.
He also mentioned that the construction of the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School in Kangra would start soon. A new bridge over ‘Jalodi Khad’ will also be built. The Chief Minister promised that Kangra will see a lot of development over the next five years, making sure people have better access to water, healthcare, and other important services.
Sukhu criticized the previous BJP government’s approach to education, which led to fewer kids enrolling in schools. He assured everyone that his government is focused on improving the education system for the future. He also explained that there are new rules to help evaluate the performance of all state government employees.
He laid the foundation stone for sewerage projects worth ₹60.12 crore for the villages of Birta, Ghurkadi, Lalehd, Mataur, Natehad, and others. Additionally, he announced road improvements connecting several villages, costing ₹12.59 crore. Another project is a new power station at Daulatpur, which will be built with an investment of ₹10.81 crore. Lastly, he started work on a drinking water project for villages like Ichhi, Mataur, and Gaggal, costing ₹5.16 crore.
