India and France have agreed to work closely together to keep the oceans safe and protect international laws. They recently met to talk about how to ensure freedom of navigation and respect for each country’s territory. Both countries want to create a safe and open Indian Ocean Region, as they outlined in their plan from 2018.

In a shared statement, they promised to keep sea routes secure by using their ships and naval resources together. France is excited about India’s involvement in the Combined Maritime Forces and is looking forward to India taking the lead in key missions.

Moreover, India and France agreed to team up in tackling maritime security issues, like piracy, theft, maritime terrorism, smuggling, illegal fishing, cyber threats, and pollution. They also committed to protecting ocean life and resources by joining efforts, including supporting the United Nations Ocean Conference. This joint effort aims to keep the Indian Ocean Region clean and safe for everyone.
