On Sunday morning, over 40 trains in Delhi were late because of thick fog. This fog also caused delays on Saturday. Some trains were delayed by more than three hours, including the KIR-ASR EXP, LICHCHVI EXP, GORKHDHAM EXP, PURUSHUOTTAM EXP, MAHABODHI EXP, MALWA EXP, and DAKSHIN EXP.
On Saturday, 47 trains were late until 6 am because of the fog. The weather has been foggy in Delhi and nearby areas, which has made it hard to see and disrupted train, plane, and car travel.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the temperature in Delhi was 11.2°C at 5:30 am on Saturday.
In addition, Delhi’s air quality has worsened again. After getting a little better, the air quality dropped back to ‘very poor’ on Sunday morning. The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was at 335 around 7 am, according to the Sameer app, which tracks air quality. Just the day before, the AQI was recorded at 248 at 7 am.
Here’s what the Air Quality Index means:
– 0 to 50: Good
– 51 to 100: Satisfactory
– 101 to 200: Moderate
– 201 to 300: Poor
– 301 to 400: Very Poor
– 401 to 500: Severe
On January 17, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) decided to lift some restrictions because Delhi’s air quality showed improvement. The Review Committee noticed that the AQI had changed from “Severe” to “Very Poor,” with levels going below 350. This change was due to favorable weather conditions like strong winds. However, some measures are still in place to monitor air quality and prevent it from getting worse.
