BharatPe CEO: Quality of Work Over 90-Hour Weeks!

Discover how BharatPe CEO Nalin Negi champions work quality over long hours, sparking a debate on work-life balance in India’s corporate culture.

90 hour work week

There’s a big talk in India about how many hours people should work. BharatPe’s CEO, Nalin Negi, believes it’s not about working long hours, but about the quality of work. He said that his company doesn’t expect employees to work extreme hours, like 90 a week. This comes after L&T Chairman, SN Subrahmanyan, wished employees could work on Sundays, causing many to worry about having a good work-life balance.

People on social media reacted strongly, saying that demanding such long hours is unfair and unhealthy. Many important voices joined the conversation. Negi explained that BharatPe is a young company that wants to create a friendly environment for its workers. He wants BharatPe to be known as a place where employees can grow in their careers, not just have jobs.

Negi stated that happy employees can do great work. He doesn’t believe people can really work 90 hours a week efficiently. Other business leaders, like RPG Enterprises Chairman Harsh Goenka and Marico Ltd Chairman Harsh Mariwala, also shared their thoughts. They agree that while hard work is important, it’s the quality of that work that truly matters, not just the time spent working.

Issues about long work hours and work-life balance come up often. Earlier, some well-known figures like Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy and Tesla’s Elon Musk suggested that working harder is necessary. But many argue that balance is key to success.
