Dhruv Shorey, an opener for Vidarbha, made headlines by scoring his third straight century in the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Karnataka on Saturday in Vadodara. This impressive run includes a century in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final match! Shorey scored 110 runs off 111 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes while helping his team chase a big target of 349 runs.
Vidarbha won the toss and chose to bowl first. Karnataka got off to a shaky start, but their middle-order batsmen really stepped up. Ravichandran Smaran scored a century, while K Shrijith contributed 78 runs off 74 balls and Abhinav Manohar scored 79 runs off just 42 balls. By the end of their 50 overs, Karnataka set a huge score of 348 runs for Vidarbha to chase.
Vidarbha usually relies on Karun Nair for runs, but he could only make 27 runs before getting out to a brilliant ball from Indian bowler Prasidh Krishna. After Nair’s departure, it was up to Shorey, and he didn’t let his team down, scoring another century.
Dhruv Shorey showed amazing skill and composure during this game, proving that he shines in important matches.
