rg kar rape murder verdict on january 18 cbi demands death penalty for accused sanjay roy for monstrous crime

On Saturday, the Sealdah court will announce its decision regarding the rape and murder of a postgraduate (PG) trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital. This tragic incident happened on August 9 last year, when the doctor’s body was discovered on the hospital grounds.

The main suspect in this horrifying case is a civic volunteer named Sanjay Roy, who was arrested by Kolkata Police just one day after the body was found. The investigation moved to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after the Calcutta High Court took over from the local police. The case caused huge protests all over India, with many people demanding justice and better safety measures for medical staff in government hospitals.

The CBI looked into the actions of former RG Kar Principal Sandip Ghosh and Abhijit Mondal, the former officer in charge of Tala Police Station. Both men were accused of trying to change the evidence in this case but were later released on bail. Sandip Ghosh is still in trouble for corruption linked to financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College.

The anger and protests reached new heights when junior doctors rallied for justice and called for stronger security in hospitals run by West Bengal’s medical department (WBJDF). Meanwhile, the CID police have also started an investigation against a group of suspended doctors due to the tragic death of a mother and her baby, which was caused by unsafe medical practices.

The West Bengal government has taken action by suspending 12 doctors, including the Medical Superintendent of Midnapore Medical College. The Calcutta High Court is pressing the government to address the serious issue of safety and the use of clean medical supplies in state-run hospitals.
