Kangana Ranaut’s new movie, “Emergency,” has had its release stopped in some cities in Punjab, like Patiala, Amritsar, and Bathinda. This is due to worries about possible protests. Many local officials are concerned that the movie might upset some groups and lead to trouble.

Kangana reacted strongly to this news, calling it “complete harassment” of artists. She shared her thoughts on X, previously known as Twitter, saying that she respects all religions and that the claims against her are false and meant to hurt her film’s success.

Just the day before, the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) asked the Punjab chief minister to ban “Emergency” because some Sikh groups believe it misrepresents their community.

“Emergency” is a political drama about former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, focusing on her rule during the Emergency period and Operation Bluestar. Kangana stars as Indira Gandhi, alongside a talented cast including Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, and Mahima Chaudhry. The movie finally hit theaters on January 17 after delays.
