of the News:
Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan, famous for his movie “Marco,” has decided to step down as the treasurer of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). He shared the news on Instagram, explaining that his busy work schedule has been affecting his mental health. Unni promised to stay on until someone new is chosen for the role to make the transition easy.
In his message, he reflected on how his current projects, especially “Marco,” have made it hard for him to balance his job and his responsibilities at AMMA. He expressed that his time as treasurer has been enjoyable and rewarding, but recent work demands have taken a toll on him.
He said, “I need to take a step back to focus on my own well-being and my family’s. Although I’ve always tried my best in this role, I can’t do it effectively anymore because of my growing commitments.”
He concluded his announcement by saying he would continue to help until a new treasurer is appointed.
This news comes after some controversies related to AMMA. In August 2024, the executive committee, led by president Mohanlal, resigned amid serious accusations of sexual abuse within the Malayalam film industry. These allegations were revealed in a report by the Justice K Hema Committee about the working conditions for women in Mollywood.
