A statue of Mulayam Singh Yadav, the founder of the Samajwadi Party, was set up at a camp during the Maha Kumbh Mela, and this has caused a lot of disagreement among people. The statue, which is about two to three feet tall, was unveiled on Saturday at a camp in Sector 16 by Mata Prasad Pandey, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.

However, some religious leaders, especially from the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, didn’t like the statue. Mahant Ravindra Puri, the president of the group, said that Mulayam Singh Yadav has always been against Hindu beliefs.

Mata Prasad Pandey explained that the camp was meant to share Mulayam Singh Yadav’s ideas with visitors. They welcomed everyone to come, eat, and stay there. He stated that the statue would be taken back to the party office after the Maha Kumbh.

When asked if Akhilesh Yadav, the current leader of the Samajwadi Party and son of Mulayam, would come to the Maha Kumbh, Pandey said he had not talked to him about it yet.

Ravindra Puri added that the timing of the statue’s installation was strange, given Mulayam Singh Yadav’s history with the Ram temple movement. Other leaders, like Mahamandaleshwar Yati Narsinghanand, agreed with Puri’s complaints about the statue.

Mulayam Singh Yadav was an important political figure in Uttar Pradesh. He served as chief minister three times and passed away on October 10, 2022.
