Donald Trump’s new Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, is set to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this Saturday after visiting Doha. They are working on a deal to free hostages and to stop the fighting in Gaza. An Israeli official mentioned that talks are moving forward, with help from Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.

Witkoff arrived in Doha on Friday and met with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. Egyptian and Qatari officials were reassured by Witkoff that the U.S. will help create a fair deal to end the war soon, but he didn’t share specific details.

On the same day, the Palestinian emergency service reported that an Israeli airstrike on a school in Jabalia killed eight people, including women and children. The Israeli military stated that they targeted Hamas militants at the school and tried to protect civilians.

Later, the Gaza Civil Emergency Service said two more airstrikes killed five people and injured others, with three casualties from a home in Gaza City’s Daraj neighborhood. The Israeli military has not commented yet.

Israel began its attacks on Gaza after Hamas fighters crossed the border in October 2023, killing 1,200 people and taking over 250 hostages. Since then, more than 46,000 people have died in Gaza, and the area is facing a severe humanitarian crisis with many people forced to leave their homes
