Elon Musk responded to a post by Charlie Kirk, who said that X (formerly Twitter) has become more reliable than traditional news outlets during a serious wildfire in Los Angeles. Kirk mentioned that a friend’s brother stuck in the fire said, “X is the only reliable source for news about the fires because you can search for specific streets for updates. Real news sites don’t know what’s going on.”

He added, “X has pretty much replaced the media.” Musk shared this post and encouraged everyone to share what they see, saying, “You are the media now. Post what’s happening. It will help people.”

Many users supported this idea in the comments. One person thanked Musk for the platform, saying, “There is no better place for news and opinions than X.” Another user remarked, “Corporate media doesn’t matter anymore because of X.”

People shared their experiences using X for real-time updates, especially during emergencies. One user compared it to the old days when Twitter was the go-to place for breaking news like earthquakes. Another noted how vital X has become for instant news.

As for the wildfires, firefighters are beginning to get a handle on some out-of-control fires. For example, the Hurst Fire in the San Fernando Valley is now 10 percent contained.

On a different note, President Joe Biden has canceled a planned trip to Italy to stay in the US and help manage the federal response to the fires. He was supposed to meet with Italy’s Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and Pope Francis at the Vatican.
