Recently, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram), was seen wearing a super expensive watch worth nearly $900,000 (around ₹7.7 crore). This happened while he was announcing big changes to Meta’s policies, saying they would no longer use third-party fact-checkers. His fancy watch got a lot of attention on social media, with many people commenting that it costs more than a typical house!
One venture capitalist tweeted, “Zuck was wearing a ~$1M watch in his announcement. Nothing says I understand the community like a watch that costs more than most people’s homes.” Another user asked, “Why is Mark Zuckerberg wearing such a costly watch?”
A third comment joked, “Mark wants Facebook to focus on truth and facts—while wearing a watch that is more expensive than many people’s houses. Priorities, right?” Someone else remembered when Zuckerberg admired Anant Ambani’s expensive watch and said, “Well, he’s got one just as pricey now!”
For context, the mention of Anant Ambani refers to a time when Zuckerberg visited India for Anant’s pre-wedding celebrations. He and his wife, Priscilla Chan, were seen admiring a very expensive watch that belonged to Anant Ambani.
What makes Zuckerberg’s watch special? It’s called the Greubel Forsey ‘Hand Made 1’ and is extremely rare, with only two or three made each year. He has also worn other high-end brands like Patek Philippe and FP Journe in the past.
