On Wednesday, Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, announced that his government will take back all land that has been taken under the name of waqf (a type of property given for religious purposes). Speaking at a big event called the ‘Maha Kumbh Mahasammelan,’ he emphasized the importance of Sanatan Dharma, which he believes is one of the oldest cultures in the world. He stated, “Our tradition is more precious than anything else.”
Adityanath was tough on the Waqf Board, saying it’s hard to know if it truly serves its purpose or just acts like land mafias. He explained that his government has updated the Waqf Act and is looking into all land that has been occupied. He promised to return these lands for building homes, schools, and hospitals for the poor.
He highlighted that the traditions of Sanatan Dharma and events like Kumbh are much older than the Waqf system and that they are incredibly valuable. He criticized the Samajwadi Party and said they were not following the teachings of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, a famous leader, who believed in the importance of Indian traditions.
The Chief Minister brought up the importance of protecting religious sites, specifically in Sambhal, which Puranas (ancient texts) mention as an important place related to Lord Vishnu. He maintained that his government acts firmly against those who damage these sites.
Discussing Ayodhya, he said the city has been transformed into a center for development and culture, and people who once opposed this change can no longer complain about it.
On the topic of people switching religions, he said those who want to return to their original faith should be welcomed, as it shows respect for beliefs and traditions. He also emphasized that unity is vital among Hindus and nationally, stating that being divided weakens the country, while coming together makes it strong.
During the event, he underscored the significance of the Maha Kumbh, explaining that it represents India’s culture and unity. Important sages will gather to discuss the state of society and politics today. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and said the government is taking steps to organize a grand and successful Maha Kumbh.
Yogi Adityanath mentioned that this event isn’t only for Indians but will also attract people from around the world, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage. He believes the Maha Kumbh will unite everyone, regardless of their background, and display how far India has come in the last decade.
He urged people not to listen to those who try to create divisions among society for political reasons, claiming that the awareness of the people is growing. He concluded by saying that the real troublemakers—mafia and criminals—are the ones leaving Uttar Pradesh.
