JPMorgan Chase, the largest bank in the U.S. with over 300,000 workers worldwide, is telling employees to come back to the office five days a week. This change ends their hybrid work policy, which allowed staff to work from home some days.

CEO Jamie Dimon believes that working together in person is very important. He thinks people work better when they are face-to-face. Right now, around 60% of JPMorgan workers, including those in branches and trading, are already in the office full-time. But this new rule will apply to corporate jobs that used to have more flexible schedules.

JPMorgan’s decision is part of a bigger trend where other banks want to bring back the way people worked before the pandemic. For example, Goldman Sachs also made its workers return to the office full-time last year. Other banks like Citi, HSBC, and Barclays are encouraging their workers to do the same.

The bank believes that having everyone at the office all the time will help team collaboration and improve workplace culture, which can be hard to achieve with remote work. While some employees support the change for better teamwork, others are worried about their work-life balance and long commutes.
