A cold wave hit Delhi early on Tuesday, causing very chilly temperatures and strong winds. This led to dense fog covering the city. The weather experts expected the warmest temperature of the day to be around 19 degrees Celsius.

The thick fog caused many problems, especially for trains. About 25 trains, including Poorva Express and Vikramshila Express, faced delays. Many people waited for long times at the train stations, not knowing when their trains would come.

The fog also made driving tough, with reduced visibility on the roads. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility was as low as 150 meters during the worst fog, but it improved to 700 meters later in the morning.

Most areas saw some fog and smog, with a few spots experiencing really thick fog. Photos shared online showed that visibility got better later in the day.

In terms of pollution, Delhi’s air quality was reported as “very poor,” with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 310 measured at 6 a.m. This has been the case for the past three days. The AQI categories are as follows: 0-50 is “good,” 51-100 is “satisfactory,” 101-200 is “moderate,” 201-300 is “poor,” 301-400 is “very poor,” and 401-500 is “severe.”

The temperature in Delhi slightly rose to 10.5 degrees Celsius, which is above normal. The weather office suggests that fog will continue throughout the day, with the highest temperature reaching around 19 degrees
