A 29-year-old student named Nilay Kailashbhai Patel from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) was found dead in his hostel early Sunday morning, just after celebrating his birthday with friends. Nilay, who was from Gujarat, was in his second year of the Post-Graduate Programme (PGP) and was excited to start his new job at a fashion e-commerce company on Monday. His sudden death has shocked everyone at the school.
Security staff discovered Nilay unconscious on the hostel lawn around 6:30 am. They quickly called for medical help, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Initial reports suggest that he might have accidentally fallen from the second floor while trying to go back to his room late at night. There were only minor bruises on his body, indicating that there was no foul play. Police mentioned that there were no signs of suicide, like a note, and his friends said he hadn’t shown any signs of being upset.
According to his friends, Nilay had spent the night celebrating his birthday with a few close friends. The exact cause of his death is still unknown, and authorities are waiting for his family from Gujarat to arrive before moving forward with any official action. IIM-B expressed its sadness over the loss, saying, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Nilay Kailashbhai Patel, a promising individual and a valued member of our community. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.”
