Hyderabad police arrested two young men for secretly filming female students at a private engineering college in Medchal. Some girls complained that staff in the kitchen were taking videos of them in the washroom. This led to big protests at the college on January 1 and 2.
The police filed a case against seven people, including the two arrested men, the college’s principal, director, and chairman. The charges include voyeurism, which is watching people in private places like washrooms for bad reasons, and other serious accusations.
The two arrested men, both 20 years old, worked near the girls’ hostel and could easily see into the washrooms. They have been sent to jail. Police also mentioned that the hostel staff didn’t take the girls’ complaints seriously because they wanted to keep the situation from getting worse, which only encouraged the men to continue their actions.
In a similar incident, a man in Delhi was caught filming women in a hospital washroom with his phone. He worked in housekeeping and admitted to spying for a month.
The police are still investigating the situation at the college, ensuring the safety of the students.
