Fans are heartbroken over the unexpected passing of writer-director Jeff Baena at the age of 47. He was found dead at his home in Los Angeles, and reports suggest he died by suicide. A touching Instagram post from his wife, actress Aubrey Plaza, has gained attention since the sad news broke.
In her post from May 2021, Aubrey expressed how proud she was of Jeff for his work on the film Spin Me Round. She shared sweet pictures where they looked lovingly at each other on a film set. In her caption, she wrote, “So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that takes us to Italia to cause some more trouble.” She also mentioned her excitement to work with actress Alison Brie, who helped write the movie.
Since hearing about Jeff’s death, many fans have left kind messages on Aubrey’s post, expressing their condolences. One person wrote, “So sorry for your loss,” while another added, “He was a kind man.” Many are sending love to Aubrey and his family during this difficult time.
Jeff was originally from Miami and studied filmmaking at New York University. He moved to Los Angeles after graduation to pursue his career. He is known for his independent films like The Little Hours and Life After Beth, which starred Aubrey. Jeff also directed other films, including Spin Me Round and Horse Girl.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Aubrey, as well as his mother, Barbara Stern, stepfather Roger Stern, father Scott Baena, and stepmother Michele Baena.
