Jake Sullivan, the US National Security Advisor, is coming to India on Sunday and Monday. This meeting is important because it is one of the last big meetings with India before the Joe Biden administration ends and Donald Trump takes over.

Sullivan’s focus will be on how India and the US can work together on new technologies, especially in defence, space, and artificial intelligence. He will also speak at the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi to highlight the strong partnership between the two countries.

During his visit, he will meet with Ajit Doval, India’s National Security Advisor, and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister. Last year, India and the US worked together on projects related to making semiconductors and developing artificial intelligence.

One big deal that came out of this partnership was between General Electric, a US company, and Hindustan Aeronautics, an Indian company, to build jet engines in India. This has helped strengthen the relationship between India and the US.

However, the friendship has faced some challenges. In 2023, a US prosecutor claimed that someone in Prime Minister Modi’s government was involved in an assassination plot against a Sikh activist in New York, which created some tension in their diplomatic ties.
