Dehradun, Uttarakhand is set to host the first International Pravasi Uttarakhandi Conference on January 12. People from 17 countries will attend the event to explore investment opportunities in the state. Over 50 successful Uttarakhandis living abroad have already signed up to join.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will kick off the conference, which will include four panel discussions. The topics will cover chances for investment in hospitality, wellness, and skill development. They will also talk about jobs abroad, higher education, and investment in garden herbs.

Many migrant Uttarakhandis have made a name for themselves abroad, including Girish Chandra Pant from Dubai, who won the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, and others from countries like China, America, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand.

The Chief Minister mentioned that these Uttarakhandis bring valuable experience in science, technology, and entrepreneurship. The government wants these migrants to help develop their home state and villages. Dhami also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s encouragement for migrants to aid their home states.

The idea for this conference came to Dhami during his trip abroad to invite investors for an investment summit in December 2023. He felt inspired by how Uttarakhandis abroad maintain their cultural traditions. This event aims to unite them and explore ways they can contribute to their home state.
