Elon Musk, a famous American billionaire and supporter of Donald Trump, has spoken out against British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour government. He is upset about the grooming gangs scandal, which involved the sexual exploitation of young girls in the UK for nearly 20 years, mainly by men of British-Pakistani background.

Musk shared his thoughts on social media, calling Starmer out for not doing enough to punish the gangs that groomed and abused these girls. He also demanded jail time for Jess Phillips, the minister in charge of safeguarding.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting pushed back against Musk’s comments, suggesting that they were unfair and misinformed.

Musk’s criticism arose after he tweeted about the Rotherham grooming scandal, which revealed that 1,400 children had been abused over 16 years. The victims, some as young as 11, faced horrible experiences like rape and trafficking, but the authorities ignored their cries for help. Many officials were afraid to act because they worried about being seen as racist since most of the abusers were of Pakistani descent.

Although the government made some changes in 2009, many survivors continued to feel unsupported and traumatized. An independent inquiry in 2014 highlighted the failures that allowed this abuse to go on for so long.

After Musk’s tweets, Kemi Badenoch, a leader in the Conservative Party, called for a national inquiry, stating that 2025 should be a year for justice for the victims.

Rumors suggest Musk might donate up to $100 million to the opposition party Reform UK. He has been critical of the Labour government since last summer’s anti-immigration riots. Earlier, Downing Street termed Musk’s suggestions about civil war in the UK as “unacceptable.” Recently, they defended Starmer’s government as “pro-growth” after Musk questioned the UK Prime Minister’s policies.
