Linda Lavin, the famous actress known for her role in the TV show ‘Alice,’ died on December 29 at the age of 87. Her publicist reported that she passed away due to complications from lung cancer, which was recently discovered.

Linda’s acting career started when she was a child on stage. She made her Broadway debut in the 1960s and became well-known for her performances in the musical ‘It’s a Bird… It’s a Plane… It’s Superman’ and the play ‘Last of the Red Hot Lovers,’ earning her first Tony Award nomination in 1970.

In 1987, Linda won a Tony Award for her amazing performance in ‘Broadway Bound.’ She became a star on television with her role as a diner waitress in ‘Alice,’ which aired from 1976 to 1985 for nine seasons and 202 episodes. Her character connected with the audience, earning her many nominations for the Emmy Awards.

Linda kept acting in TV shows like ‘Barney Miller,’ ‘Sean Saves the World,’ and ‘B Positive.’ Just this year, she showed her talent again by guest-starring in CBS’s ‘Elsbeth,’ recurring in Netflix’s ‘No Good Deed,’ and starring in Hulu’s upcoming comedy ‘Mid-Century Modern.’

Only a few weeks before she died, Linda attended the premiere of ‘No Good Deed.’ She was actively working on ‘Mid-Century Modern,’ which features stars like Nathan Lane and Matt Bomer, and they had finished filming seven of the show’s ten episodes.

Aaron Kaplan, a producer who worked with Linda, expressed his love for her work, saying, “Alice was one of the shows that made me love television. Linda was funny, talented, and kind. She will always be remembered as a star in Hollywood.”

Linda also acted in films like ‘Damn Yankees!’, ‘The Ring,’ ‘The Intern,’ and ‘Being the Ricardos.’ Her talents in theater and television made her one of the most respected figures in the industry. She is survived by her husband, Steve Bakunas.
