Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, Vinai Kumar Saxena, wrote a letter to Chief Minister Atishi after Arvind Kejriwal called her a “temporary chief minister.” Saxena found this comment “objectionable” and said it insulted not just Atishi, but also the President of India and himself. He mentioned that it is important to have respectful discussions in public.
Saxena pointed out that referring to someone as “temporary” is against the principles of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the Indian Constitution. He said that unlike Kejriwal, who was Chief Minister for over 10 years without solving critical issues like Yamuna pollution, garbage management, and healthcare, Atishi has worked hard to address problems during her short time in office.
Additionally, Saxena highlighted that Kejriwal’s announcements about new schemes for senior citizens and women were unauthorized and undermined the chief minister’s authority. He also noted that claims about Atishi going to jail due to investigations had been denied by the relevant government departments.
