Aravind Srinivas, the CEO and co-founder of a billion-dollar AI company called Perplexity AI, recently shared exciting news on social media. He had the chance to meet India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Aravind expressed how honored he felt to meet the Prime Minister and shared some insights from their conversation.
During their meeting, they talked about how AI (artificial intelligence) could be used in India and around the world. Aravind was “really inspired” by Modi’s commitment to learning about AI and his clear vision for the future. He shared a photo of their handshake, capturing the moment.

Who is Aravind Srinivas?
Aravind began his career as an intern at OpenAI. He later worked at DeepMind and Google before going back to OpenAI as a research scientist. In 2022, he co-founded Perplexity AI with three other people: Andy Konwinski, Denis Yarats, and Johnny Ho. Besides being CEO, Aravind also invests in AI projects.
He studied Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, where he earned both a B.Tech and M.Tech degree. He also completed his PhD in Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley, and now lives in San Francisco.
