The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced a warning for cold weather in northern India starting December 29, 2025. They expect minimum temperatures to drop by 3-5 degrees Celsius over Northwest India in the next two days because of a weather pattern coming from near Pakistan.

This weather system, called a western disturbance, will also impact the western Himalayan region from January 1 to 6, 2025. In Himachal Pradesh, cold wave conditions are likely from December 29 to January 1, 2025, and could become severe on December 30 and 31.

Punjab and Haryana will also experience cold weather from December 29 to January 3, 2025. Furthermore, Rajasthan will have chilly days on December 28 and 29.

Dense Fog Warning:
The weather department predicts that dense fog will cover areas of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and Rajasthan from December 28 to 30, especially during the night and early morning. Himachal Pradesh will experience similar fog from December 29 to 31. States like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa, and Jharkhand may also face foggy conditions.

In the eastern part of North India, areas like West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura are expected to have dense fog from December 30 to January 2, 2025. Some areas of Himachal Pradesh may also see frost on the ground due to the cold wave.
