Vivek Ramaswamy stirred up a lot of talk on social media after he made some strong comments about American culture. He criticized things like prom queens and high school athletes, even mentioning popular TV characters from the 90s like Cory Matthews from “Boy Meets World” and Stefan from “Family Matters.” Many fans of former President Trump, called MAGA supporters, did not like what he said.

Ramaswamy’s comments came while he was discussing the H-1B visa program, which lets American companies hire foreign workers for special jobs. He believes the U.S. needs to focus more on creating top engineers. He stated, “Our American culture has praised being average for too long. This starts at a young age.”

He went on to say that a culture that honors prom queens over the math competition winners will not produce top-notch engineers. He suggested that instead of watching sitcoms like “Friends,” kids should be encouraged to participate in science contests.

Ramaswamy, who was a top student in high school, argued that these changes could spark a new age of American innovation. He believes America can wake up to this challenge, just like it did during the space race.

The reactions from conservative influencers were quick. Some criticized him for changing his stance from wanting to cut government spending to wanting more foreign workers. Nikki Haley, a former U.N. Ambassador, said we should focus on American workers instead.

Others accused Ramaswamy of being disconnected from regular Americans. However, Elon Musk, who once held an H-1B visa himself, supported him, saying the U.S. needs to recruit the best talent from around the world to stay ahead in technology.
