The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) recently criticized the Congress party because a map at their meeting in Belagavi, Karnataka, didn’t show parts of India like Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Aksai Chin. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi accused Congress of “appeasement politics” and questioned if George Soros, a known philanthropist, was behind the move.
Trivedi pointed out that this isn’t just a random mistake. He noted that Congress’s ally, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu, used a similar map last October. He also mentioned instances from 2020 and 2022 when Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Shashi Tharoor, did the same thing. He asked the Congress if this was just a coincidence or part of a planned effort against India.
The BJP claimed Congress supported some individuals who talked about cutting the “Chicken’s Neck,” a narrow strip of land that connects northeastern India to the rest of the country, during protests against the Citizen (Amendment) Act (CAA). Trivedi questioned why the Congress would mention this area during those protests.
He stated that Congress, as the main Opposition party, should promote India’s unity and integrity, not divide it by province, caste, or class. Furthermore, Trivedi criticized a Congress leader from Karnataka who suggested the state should focus on its own national identity because it contributes more taxes. Also, he referred to former Union minister Saifuddin Soz, who suggested that Kashmiris might want independence if given the choice.
Trivedi closed by asking if there were discussions among Congress about dividing India or if they had plans in place for continuing what the BJP calls anti-India politics
