In Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram area, the police have arrested a man for spreading false news on social media about Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s death. The man, identified as Rohit, is 34 years old and comes from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh.

The police took action after a complaint was made by a BJP member named Anil Sharma, who saw the fake news post going around on Facebook on Tuesday. An FIR (First Information Report) was filed against Rohit based on this complaint.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Swatantra Kumar Singh, they’ve charged him under several laws, including those related to the Information Technology Act.

The police acted quickly and caught Rohit near the Hindon River Barrage in Vasundhara Colony using both manual and electronic surveillance. During questioning, Rohit admitted that he posted the fake news because he wanted more followers on his Facebook page. Legal action has started against him, and the police are continuing their investigation.
