IIT Bombay is getting attention for some shocking ads at its Mood Indigo cultural festival. The ads included catchy and suggestive phrases like “Always Up for a Good Screw,” which were meant to sell condoms from a festival sponsor. Some students found these ads inappropriate for their college and wrote to the school saying they didn’t match the values and image of IIT Bombay.
The school took action quickly. They told the sponsor to take down the ads before they could be seen all over the campus. An IIT Bombay spokesperson explained that there are strict rules for what can be displayed on campus. They said that the sponsorships need to fit with what the school stands for. The spokesperson mentioned that the sponsor sent ads that didn’t follow the approval steps needed for the festival.
According to reports, the ads arrived late one night and were left at the Student Activity Centre. The next day, the Mood Indigo team found them and asked the sponsor to remove them right away. A committee member said these ads didn’t represent the values of IIT Bombay.
