Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has started giving monthly payments to women under the Ladki Bahin scheme again. This comes after a short break because of the election rules. The payments, which will be given in parts, were announced by state minister Aditi Tatkare. The elections took place last month, and the rules kept the scheme on hold until the voting was finished.
The Mukhyamanti Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, launched earlier this year, gives eligible women Rs 1,500 each month. Many believe this scheme helped the BJP-led government win the recent elections. Tatkare shared that there are currently 2.34 crore women benefiting from the scheme. The first payments through the direct benefit transfer (DBT) system have started, and after four days, officials will find out how many women received the money. The number of women getting help may increase as more sign up.
When asked about a promise of Rs 2,100 a month, Tatkare mentioned that the Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, will decide about this in the next budget. She added that they will check complaints to know more about the beneficiaries. In a post on X, Tatkare said this financial aid aims to help women feel stronger and support their families. She is hopeful that this help will lead to positive changes in their lives.
