Guwahati: The Assam Rifles, together with other security forces, stopped a serious threat from a hidden bomb on the Imphal-Dimapur National Highway (NH-2) in Churachandpur district, Manipur. A Defense Spokesman reported that, based on a tip-off, they worked with a bomb squad and Manipur Police to search for the suspected bomb. They found it under a bridge on NH-2 near Leisang village on Monday night.

The bomb contained dangerous materials, including 40 meters of explosive wire, nine commercial detonators, a non-electric detonator, 3.6 kg of Neogel 90 explosive (which can create nine bombs), and a safety fuse. All materials were handed over to the Churachandpur police station, where an official report was filed. Assam Rifles emphasized their dedication to keeping the area safe and protecting the local community.

A police officer in Imphal mentioned that security forces are conducting searches in vulnerable areas in both hill and valley districts. They have ensured the safe movement of vehicles carrying essential supplies along NH-37 and NH-2. Strict security measures have been put in place in sensitive areas, and security convoys are provided for safe transport.

To prevent unwanted movement of suspicious individuals, a total of 106 checkpoints have been established across various districts in Manipur.
