Vikram’s action-adventure movie, “Thangalaan,” is now available on Netflix! If you missed it in theaters, you can now watch it at home. The film was released on OTT after 17 weeks of waiting, which is much longer than most Tamil movies that usually come to streaming within 3-4 weeks. It’s available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, but there’s no news yet about a Hindi version.
Before the release on OTT, some people were concerned about the movie. A person from Thiruvallur even filed a complaint asking the court to stop it, saying the film showed Buddhism respectfully while making fun of Vaishnavism. However, the court dismissed the complaint because the movie had already been reviewed and approved by the Central Board of Film Certification.
“Thangalaan,” directed by Pa. Ranjith and produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja from Studio Green and Neelam Productions, stars Vikram in five different roles. It also features actors like Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, and Daniel Caltagirone. Although the film received mixed reviews and didn’t do well at the box office—earning only ₹68 crore against a budget of ₹100 crore—Vikram announced a sequel, stating, “We all believe that Thangalaan deserves a sequel, and we plan to make many more.”
