Former England cricket player Jonathan Trott will continue as the head coach of the Afghanistan national team until 2025. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) made this announcement after praising his work over the past two and a half years. Trott, who is 43 years old and originally from South Africa, has done a fantastic job and led Afghanistan to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup in June. This was a big achievement as it was their first time reaching the last four in any World Cup.
The ACB confirmed, “We are extending Mr. Jonathan Trott’s contract as the head coach for 2025.” They highlighted his important role in helping the team improve and grow. Next year, Afghanistan will play in the Champions Trophy, which is a major one-day cricket tournament, for the first time ever!
Trott’s next challenge is a one-day series in Zimbabwe starting next week. However, he will not be there for the T20 matches or Test games during this tour due to personal obligations, according to the ACB.
