Jamie Foxx, the famous actor, told his story about a serious health scare while filming a movie called Back in Action in Atlanta in April 2023. He discovered that he had bleeding in his brain, which caused him to have a stroke. This situation was so serious that he ended up in the hospital, fighting for his life. In his Netflix special, What Had Happened Was, released on December 10, Foxx shared, “I had a really bad headache and asked my friend for an Aspirin. Before I could get it, I passed out. I don’t remember 20 days of my life.”
His sister, Deidra Dixon, played a big role in helping him recover. After friends tried to help him at first, Deidra realized that something was seriously wrong and rushed him to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. “You saved my life just 400 yards away from here in Piedmont Hospital. They put me back together again,” Foxx said, thanking the hospital staff.
When they got to the hospital, the doctors told Deidra that her brother was having a brain bleed and that he needed surgery right away. “If we don’t operate now, we might lose him,” the doctors warned. Deidra prayed outside the operating room throughout the surgery.
After 20 days in a deep sleep, Foxx woke up on May 4 to find himself in a wheelchair. “I couldn’t walk, and I was shocked, learning I was in a wheelchair after all that happened. I just woke up!” he said.
Foxx had kept this life-changing event private until later in July 2023 when he thanked his family and fans for their support during his recovery.
