Patna (Bihar): Faizal Khan, better known as Khan Sir, is an educator and YouTuber who was released from police custody late Friday night in Patna. He was detained after joining protests by students hoping to change the exam rules of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).
On Friday, students gathered in Patna to demand that exams be conducted in “One Shift and One Paper,” instead of the current system which they feel complicates things through the normalisation process. A local magistrate, MS Khan, asked the protesters to disperse, stating that they would need to leave the protest area.
While speaking to the media, Khan Sir emphasized that their cause is not political; they just want to be heard. “It is quite sad that we have to protest just a week before our exams. We want a clear statement from the BPSC about exam rules,” he said. He believes that the process might be good, but it needs to be managed well by the officials in charge.
Khan Sir also stressed the importance of fairness in the exams, urging for a guarantee that normalisation will not happen this time. He called on the authorities to recognize that they are also teaching the students who are studying for these exams. “We will protest peacefully. It is important to cancel the normalisation process,” he added.
He suggested that if the students’ time is wasted, they should be given extra time or even an extension for the exam dates. Additionally, he mentioned that any student forms not accepted due to technical issues should be accepted. Khan Sir encouraged the students to stay united in their fight for these demands.
