Eknath Shinde, the caretaker Chief Minister of Maharashtra, said he went to his village in Satara to relax after a busy election schedule. He traveled there after a meeting with BJP leaders in Delhi. Some people wondered if he was upset about decisions being made, but a Shiv Sena leader said he fully supports the BJP leadership. Shinde felt unwell while in his village, suffering from a fever and throat infection.
While talking to reporters, Shinde said, “I’m feeling better now. I came here to rest after a busy election. I didn’t take any time off during my 2.5 years as Chief Minister. People keep coming to meet me, which is why I got sick. Our government will listen to the people.”
He promised his full support to the BJP and stated that the work done in Maharashtra during his time will be recognized. “The people have given us a strong mandate, and the opposition didn’t get a chance,” he added.
He also mentioned that the candidate for Chief Minister will be decided on Monday, December 2. Shinde had a high fever recently, and doctors are treating him with medication and IV therapy. His family doctor said he would feel better in a couple of days and is expected to return to Mumbai soon.
Importantly, the new government will be sworn in at Azad Maidan on December 5, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending. NCP leader Ajit Pawar announced that the Chief Minister position will go to the BJP, while Shiv Sena and his party will select the two deputy Chief Ministers.
